A manufacturer of medical systems for hospital and outpatient settings faced a critical need to move their tooling to a more consistent molding partner. The company relies on precision and consistency to meet stringent medical standards for producing high-quality components for the healthcare industry. To improve their production quality, they transferred their tooling to the injection molding experts at Thunderbird Molding.
The medical manufacturer was experiencing ongoing performance issues with their previous molder, which led to inconsistencies in the quality of their products. Before we began the transfer process, they had nine molds that required extensive cleaning and inspection. As a part of the Thunderbird Molding Transfer Tooling Process, we coordinated the transfer schedule and ensured production timelines to prevent further operational downfalls. Additionally, Thunderbird Molding consulted with the client to generate a sufficient inventory of parts to avoid interruptions in their supply chain during the Transfer Tooling Process.
Thunderbird Molding prepared its facility to integrate all nine molds into production cells while they were cleaned. When the molds arrived, we conducted a secondary inspection of each tool to verify tolerances and functionality to our standards. Our team tested the operability of the molds and their components and then began the sampling process. Following the sample runs and after the First Article Inspection was approved, we began full-scale production.
Our detailed and client-focused Transfer Tooling Process provided a seamless experience for the client without disruption to their supply chain. By adhering to industry-leading manufacturing standards, we forged a long-term alliance with the medical device manufacturer and have since helped them design and launch new products to grow their business.
